Tuesday July 22nd: 11-year-old Pony Section at Coal City - Championship Game
Channahon 12,
Coal City 6
Congratulations to the Coal City Section Champions. After a slow start that saw Channahon fall behind 5-2 after 3 innings, the team found thier hitting stride in the 4th. For the second time in the tournament, Channahon sent 11 batters to the plate, pounded out 7 hits (plus 2 walks) and scored 7 runs to turn the game around. Backed by pitching from Brock Whalen and 5 superb relief innings from Alex Guglielmucci was enough to capture the title. Leading the hitting was Aaron Burkett (3-4), Alex Guglielmucci (2-4) and Kyle Holmes (2-4). Adding hits were Jake Butts, Brandon Halvorsen, Brock Whalen, Jake Price and Jordan Seaman. The defensive play of the game was turned in by Jordan Seaman throwing out a runner at 2nd trying to stretch a hit. Coal City hit the ball well led by Sirvey (2-4, homerun), Collins, Vickers (2-4) and Buddle. Pitchers were Collins, Owens and Brewer. Channahon advances to the Marionette Park regional with the win.

Monday, July 21st: 11-year-old Pony Section at Coal City - Elimination Game
Channahon 8, Minooka 6
Playing one of their best games to date when needed, Channahon moved on again with a win when needed. Solid defense, good pitching and timely hitting were the keys to the game. Alex Gulielmucci, Austin Guglielmucci and Brock Whalen limited Minooka to 5 hits and 4 walks. Providing the offense with hits were Aaron Burkett (1-4), Alex Guglielmucci (1-3), Kyle Holmes (1-3), Austin Guglielmucci (2-4), Brock Whalen (1-2), and Joe Wiegmann (1-3). Brandon Halvorsen pitched in on with several defensive gems in center field. For Minooka, Mike Kosinski, Cole Thompson and Jake Null were on the mound. Minooka hitters were Null, Thompson, Chad Charland and Rosak.

Channahon 16, Coal City 4
Facing elimination against the winner's bracket team, Channahon brought the bats out for our 2nd game tonight. After scoring 1 in the first, the team finally hit the big inning sending 11 to the plate in the 2nd and scoring 7 times. The hitting did not stop there as the team added 6 more hits and 9 runs in the next two innings. Leading the hitters were Kyle Holmes (3-4, 1 rbi), Brandon Halvorsen (3-4, double, 5 rbi), and Alex Guglielmucci (2-4, 2 rbi). Other hitters were Austin Guglielmucci (single, rbi) and Joe Wiegmann (2 singles). Austin Guglielmucci pitched 4 strong innings with Jake Butts closing out the game, allowing 0 hits and 4 walks. For Coal City, Newbrough and Brewer were on the mound.

Sunday, July 20th: 11-year-old Pony Section at Coal City - Elimination Game
Channahon 15, Bolingbrook 2
Channahon won game by taking advantage of numerous walks and some timely hitting. Providing hits for Channahon were Aaron Burkett, Alex Guglielmucci, Austin Gugliemucci and Jordan Seaman. Austin Guglielmucci and Brock Whalen pitched the win throwing a 2 hitter with 6 K's. For Bolingbrook, Marcus Mims and Coughlin had hits. Rodriguez, Simott and Couhglin were on the mound.

Thursday, July 17th: 11-year-old Pony Section at Coal City
Minooka 9, Channahon 5
A tough loss to start sanction play for the team. Channahon scored 3 in the top of the first only to watch Minooka score 7 in the bottom of the inning. Channahon bats just could not get in done the rest of the way. The highlights for Channahon were Nick Wittevens 2-2, including a long homerun and Austin Guglielmucci with 3 strong innings on the mound. Other hits for Channahon were Kyle Holmes and Jake Butts. Brock Whalen also pitched. For Minooka, hitting were Sean Bell (2 hits), Chad Charland (2 hits), Jake Null, Cole Thompson, Andrew Spreitzer, Austin Thompson and Mike Kosinski. Pitching for Minooka were Thompson, Spreitzer and Kosinski.

New Lenox Rebels 4
A great start to the holiday tournament of the 11 year olds. A 12 hit attack backed the solid pitching from Austin Guglielmucci and Brock Whalen plus solid defense in the field. Leading the offense with multiple hits for Channahon were Kyle Holmes (3-3, triple), Joe Wiegmann (2-2) and Austin Guglielmucci (2-3, double) and Aaron Burkett (2-3, double). Also hitting were Nick Witteven, Brandon Halvorsen (triple), and Jake Price. On the mound for the Rebels were Ryan Strilko, Joel Hollingsworth and Nick Klaus. Providing hits for the Rebels were Joe Davi, Jake Zola, Marc Viehl and Hollingsworth.
